There is one thing, reported previously in this forum related to speedboot:
if you want, try to remove the "blacklist rt61pci" from /etc/modprobe.d/backlist and to edit /etc/sysconfig/speedboot and change:
SPEEDBOOT=auto
to
SPEEDBOOT=no
then reboot.
Actually don't know what else to suggest.
I tried it, no joy...
This is a long shot - and I don't even know it if is relevant - but could this be some sort of firmware issue? Firmware not as on the card, but a firmware file on my system? Probably not...
If you have time and want to play around and learn a little bit more then you can look into it later. How much time you want to spend on this is really on you.
What gets me is that this
did work for a period of several months, so as I know it
can work, I wouldn't mind spending more time on it,
if there were some light at the end of the tunnel. But for me personally, I have long ago reached the end of my knowledge on this issue.
I can live with the delay - it's not perfect, but close enough - so I do think it's simply time to call time on this issue.
And who knows... maybe one day in the future, it might magically work again!

Thank you...
thank you much, all of you, you have been very good to me, and it is appreciated!
Cheers!
