I've recommended before obexftp.

I don't know if your particular phone speaks this dialect but it is a good way of communicating with phones that do with Linux.

And it's command line which is glorious. You might hate that.  :-\

Thanks Ramchu, tried it and it didn't work. The problem that i'm having is that the rpm file is in my /home/downloads/ folder, i can get to the /home folder in the Konsole with the command cd /home, than when i try to get to the /downloads folder it doesn't work.

I'm going to put the rpm package in the /home folder and see if i can make it work.

Thanks also Village Idiot, that could be another option.

Assuming that you downloaded the Linux RPM

Open a terminal
type su and press enter
at the prompt type your root password (won't be echoed back) and press enter
now as root type (without quotation marks) "rpm -i /home/your user name/Downloads/bitpim-1.0.7-0.i386.rpm" and press enter

This should get bitpim installed - at least it did for me

No... I'm not going to provide help here... just remember that some times ago I was in need to setup a wireless barcode scanner, and to communicate with the device I needed inactivesync, and then .NetBloatedwork.something  and then .... and then .... and then ... and at the end nothing worked. And it was a real machine not a virtual one. (....returned the device back to the supplier).
I wish you better luck!  ;)

Of course, I fully understand, and still hope you will be successful at the end, despite my results.  I wanted to highlight only that the issue may be not related to Vbox.
Try to google "activesync + your-phone-model" or "activesync + XP + your-phone-model"...

Ramchu,

It seems that i have installed Bitpim but i cannot seem to open it. I do a search on the search bar, find "run bitpim" click on it and...nothing.
If i go to the Konsole and try to install it again it tells me that it is already install???

When the phone is connected via USB, you said it is not "seen". Have you tried to lsusb the device? It could very well be a simple question of which protocol to use to mount the phone.

I'm guessing that if your phone takes pictures, it could be mounted as a camera but from a recent updated, camera rules were deleted and devices such as iPhones were no longer recognized. There was a fix posted but I'd have to go search for it. But first, why don't you try # lsusb? There's nothing to lose.

Just a thought.

So, we can safely assume that the system detects the hardware. And that takes half of the bad news away. One of our experts, AS, helped me out with mounting my iPhone. I don't need iTunes anymore! I'm not really sure how it works with your phone but if it takes picture then perhaps it could be mounted as a camera.

Here's a quote from AS (not his specific wordings but its the same intent), and you can start and investigate whether the rules are still intact:
Quote
With recent updates, specifically HAL/UDEV, a file was removed preventing Device Notifier to recognize the iPhone. To fix this, you will need to copy (either from the LiveCD or another installation) /usr/share/hal/fdi/information/20thirdparty/10-camera-libgphoto2.fdi back to the machine where the Device Notifier fails to recognize the iPhone.

Then report back.
