<Solved partially>K3B Livecd burning
« on: May 21, 2011, 08:39:25 PM »
Hi to all (knowledgeable) people,
I have all -R DVD's to be burnt but K3B consistently fails at 96% burnt.
Most times checking media at a reboot also fails but at times it does not.
The question is....does K#B now have problems with -R media?
I have tried this on 4 machines with sata ASUS burners, 1 ASUS burner IDE and 1 burner an HP blue-ray burner and all display the same problem. Using 2 different brands of -R media.

Hi Gezza,
I don't really know much about differerent DVD types, but I remember reading a forum discussion about this.
I use K3B to burn DVD's never a problem. They are DVD-R. Same as your R-DVD?
You might get more info to forum search K3B DVD until a more knowledgeable person shows up.

k3b has disappointed enough people, other users reported that error you mention

please try with another app, brasero or any other

about dvd-r, what brand are you using?

i find useful only some brands, sony, imation, tdk, samsung(some burners hates samsung) and huskee

avoid princo like the pest it is, other cheap brands too

I never really understood the difference between DVD -R and DVD +R.  In most places I shop they are the same price for the same brand, but nothing seems to spell out a difference.  However, if K3B has a problem with DVD -R, then maybe I will stick with DVD +R since I tend to find K3B one of the easier burners to use.  Your mileage may vary.

A good breakdown of the topic, and let's me know that my intuitive grabbing of DVD+R last time I bought media in bulk was probably a good move.  Since I do not burn video media to play on anything that is not in some fashion a computer these days I have no "standalone DVD player" concerns, so from here forward DVD+R will always be the right choice for me.  One more of those mysteries of life solved.  :)

Hi to all,
As to what rand I an using---
A...Verbatim.. Practically 100% fail except when K3B fails but media test says the disk is OK
B...Hp.....More likely to work on the Hp machine with the Blue ray burner otherwise as A above.
