Using KDE fully updated

It is some time since I have done any konsole configurations. Late I have decided to move the tab line to the top of the window when I noticed that konsole action seemed to freeze completely.

Turns out it is for about 30 seconds (seems a long time), if I have two or more tabs open, just doing Settings > Configure Profiles > Cancel the process hangs.

During this hang time, if I open Xterm and type konsole this will in most cases unlock the hang and konsoles can be used again.

Xterm has following message:

Code: [Select]
[gert@localhost Documents]$ konsole
[gert@localhost Documents]$ Undecodable sequence: \001b(hex)[36l

Kernel 2.6.33.7.bfs and 2.6.38.6.bfs both show the problem

Anybody else seen this?

Thanks for the feedback.

[gert@localhost ~]$ uname -r
2.6.33.7-pclos6.bfs
[gert@localhost ~]$

Now I am working in a almost bare but fully update minime, only konsole is installed, same thing happens. ;D

Open konsole, adding a root window (or more) go to config profiles > cancel an I will just have to wait until it times out before I can use the konsole again.

I have copied out the only Shell profiles, which I have not yet done any tinkering with.

from:
/home/gert/.kde4/share/apps/konsole

Root Shell.profile
[Appearance]
ColorScheme=BlackOnWhite
Font=Monospace,11,-1,2,50,0,0,0,0,0

[General]
LocalTabTitleFormat=%d : %n
Command=su -
MenuIndex=1
Name=Root Shell
Parent=FALLBACK/
[Scrolling]

Shell.profile
[Appearance]
ColorScheme=Linux

[General]
Icon=utilities-terminal
LocalTabTitleFormat=%d : %n
MenuIndex=2
Name=Shell
Parent=FALLBACK/
RemoteTabTitleFormat=%h : %u
ShowNewAndCloseTabButtons=true
TabBarPosition=1

Anything obviously wrong?

Rudge
For me it is unlikely a kernel problem.

Interesting, I have no files in that directory. Rename the file to .old and see if the problem persists.

Guess you mean above path

Here is one of old-polack's beauties, if you have missed it, but this shows about konsole config details, you ar not happening to use another terminal xvt for example?

Ouch, that is heavy duty evidence  ;D I think I am beginning to understand why it is empty.

1.. If you in terminal go to File > New Tab > ??  Do you only have one option here?

2.. Settings > Configure Profiles >  "Select option"  > Appearance

You have to be careful here the above may be different, but basically somewhere close here should be your point size. What value do you have.

I have just run up Very basic MiniMe Configured ISO, root konq, user konq, konsole, Opera and I can make terminal hang after configurations.  If I patiently wait it will come right   ;D

Thanks for the help anyway  ;D

I have figured out why you have an empty directory, as I have deleted all profiles in the konsole directory.  Then I also have an empty directory, then you will only have File > New Tab > Root Shell

If I call on the Root Shell then I get this tiny 8 point character size that is of no use to my old eyes even with x2 glasses.   That was what I was interested in, if the small chars were in your system.

I am also able to hang this minimal combination,  seems just let it time out and you can continue.
