here's a screenshot

Those look like symlinks in your picture. Where are the actual svg icons?

I agree, they do look like symlinks, but that is where the icons should be. I'm wondering if something happened while they were being extracted. Is it possible for some reason instead of putting the actual icons in the .icon folder it actually just installed links from the tarbell?

okay, I just re-downloaded ACYL from gnome-look.org which links to deviantart.com. I did an extract here. I then used lxappearance to install them. when I looked in the scalable folders, there were no icons, just what looks like symlinks.

Do this --
Install faenza from the repos. Check that it displays properly. If it does, the problem is in locating the themes in ~/.icons. In that case, open File Manager Super User -- Menu > File Tools -- and open /usr/share/icons. Copy ~/.icons/F-dark and ~/.icons/ACYL over. Test them; they should work now.

Neal, I deleted the Faenza icons I already had installed. I installed them with synaptic.  soon as I did they, and all the variations of them I have in my ~/.icons folder displayed properly without moving them. I will try and extract the ACYL icons directly into /usr/share/icons and see how that goes.  ;D

I'm not exactly a PCManFM user but isn't there somewhere, similar to Dolphin, where you can turn on Previews?

I had a similar display of your screenshot and it turns out I didn't have SVG enabled on Preview.

The best solution would be to put in a request in the Package Suggest section. Be sure to read and follow the rules.

Go to: PCManFM -> Preferences -> Displaying. Check out if highlighted positions are "ticked":

Copy icons to: /home/your_user's_name/.local/share/icons directory.
Are icons displaying properly in "Menu". If they aren't check out file: abiword.desktop in /usr/share/applications and path in section [Icon=] of this file. Setting which is used is in /usr/share/icons or /home/user/.local/share/icons.

thanks for trying to help everyone. I'm starting to think since I installed PCLOS LXDE from the December .iso and had 400+ updates to install something may have been corrupted. I think I will wait for a new quarterly release and install that.  :)

well it's fixed. I installed task-gnome on top of LXDE and now they are showing. I have no idea what was wrong.

Open Synaptic > click File - History. When History opens, click May 2011 > today's date. This will show the commit log for today. Copy and paste the "task-gnome" log, please.

I was looking at the packages that task-gnome installed and I am fairly certain librsvg was not in my original LXDE install. Maybe when that was added it fixed my  problem.

Try and remove librsvg and see what happens, you can always put it back again? :)

Seems logical, doesn't it? I hope your suggestion works.
I do not have it installed, and svgs display fine here. ???

lol yes it does. I think I will wait for the next .iso for LXDE. I already have an install of e17 and zen-mini. I still think something got screwed up trying to do those 400+ updates.

If that were the case, then it would happen here, too. It doesn't.
