[SOLVED] No video on wimp.com / metacafe.com

[hoos]

Has anybody been able to play videos from www.wimp.com and www.metacafe.com?
Example: http://www.wimp.com/scariestpath/
Youtube and a variety of others play well.
This has been a problem here for ages, so not really related to any updates,
fully updated for that matter.

    Anyone?, thanks, cheers, Hoos.

EDIT: they do play on my vbox XP install.

No matter what browser I use (Iron, Opera, Konqueror, Firefox)
they fail to play.
However, I just laid my hand on a friend's Pclos' laptop, fully updated,
and on that machine they do play!!
So it must be some setting somewhere.
Latest flash (10.3.xx) is working fine as far as I can gather.

Try a different user account to see if the problem is system wide or just a setting for your user.

Any idea where I should look for the different settings?, my ~/home is huge
and I want to keep it.

Close web browsers, try deleting .macromedia folder in your ~home

alas, .macromedia was already named .macromedia.sav;
renaming that served no purpose.

Renaming the .macromedia file and not the directory worked!
