KDE Crash (Solved)

Each time I re-boot, when the system is up and running I get a KDE crash report.
Saying the KDE deamon crashed with this error.
Executable: kded4 PID: 2544 Signal: Segmentation fault (11)
Everything seems to work okay.
I have tried ro send the bug report, but it comes up that I have insufficient data.
So I close it and then everything is working fine un til the next time I re-boot.
I keep my system as up to date as possible and have had this for about a week now.

Even for this rig, performance is good and all 3d works

Could this be related to your flash problems?  Maybe reinstall KDE4-Config and reconfigure?

Try turning off Nepomuk and the service that starts it. You are the second person I have seen report this and as I remember I had this problem when I first did my install and that is what I did to get rid of the error. Let us know if this takes care of this so others can benefit.

Does Nepomuck restart or stop all together?

I don't think it's related to my flash problems as it was doing it before I updated to the new one.

Could you give me instructions on how to turn off Nepomuk and the service that starts it, as I have never herd of it or know where to find it.

Go into "Configure Your Desktop", next click on "Workspace Appearance And Behavior", click on "Desktop Search", take away the check in "Enable Nepomuk Semantic Desktop" and click on the apply button at the bottom of the screen.

To stop the service, click on the "System Administration" button, select "Startup And Shutdown", select "Service Manager", take away the check for "Nepomk Service Module" and click on the apply button at the bottom of the screen.

These steps will turn off Nepomuk, just reboot your system and see if the error has gone.

Okay, I have disabled Nepomuk.
But when I try to select service manager, I get a warning box that "unable to contact KDED" and everything is greyed out.

Try logging in as root and turning off the nepomuk service.

Logged in as root and was able to do as instructed in your post.
Re-booted and the problem is no longer there.

Thank you very much for this fix as it cured a problem for me with a recent update.  Don't really understand why it suddenly became a problem (and rare too).  Wonder if the op has ahci or raid enabled in BIOS.

Edit:  Never-mind.  After reinstalling with ahci disabled the problem was still there.

No. There are better working alternatives than this abomination pushed upon us named Nepomuk.
