PhotoImpact X3 & Wine Information
« on: May 15, 2011, 08:22:46 AM »
I ran into some problems while running Photoimpact X3 under Wine and here are the details on the solution-

First, I installed PhotoImpact using the Wine File Manager.

After installation I used Synaptic to install Winetricks so that I could install a missing dll file.

After I installed Wintricks, I installed the mfc42 dll file.

PhotoImpact worked fine EXCEPT that I couldn't save any of the images.

So I opened the Wine Configurator and added the iedit.exe (PhotoImpact exe file) and the selected Windows 98 for it's emulator. None of the newer versions of Windows would allow saving of files when selected.

Then everything (that I have tried) has worked.

So there you have it.

Hondo, wine is not a virtual machine, a virtual machine is something running on virtual box or vmware and similar software

thanks for the tips on running that software

Ok, my bad.

Not sure where the Emulator section is.....

It was my intent on publishing this info for PhotoImpact users everywhere. It might even bring a few to PCLOS -
