Virtualbox installer looking for "GNU compiler"?
« on: May 19, 2011, 07:46:23 PM »
I decided to run the script tonight to update my working copy of virtualbox.  Seemed to run well but then gave this message:

Verifying archive integrity... All good.
Uncompressing VirtualBox for Linux installation...........
VirtualBox Version 4.0.6 r71344 (2011-04-21T11:07:44Z) installer
Please install the GNU compiler.
Problems were found which would prevent VirtualBox from installing.
Please correct these problems and try again.

-------------
I looked through these forums but found nothing; I went into synaptic and downloaded everything that looked related to gcc, but still get the same error.  Probably I should mention that so far as I know through synaptic my system is fully up to date.

I'll appreciate any suggestions!  Thanks in advance!

You aren't fully updated because getvirtualbox is now version 4.0.8. Try again tomorrow.

Thanks to everyone who donates. You keep the servers running.
