A few simple packages needed testing
« on: May 12, 2011, 03:47:06 PM »
Hello everyone,

I was able to packed a few packages and am asking your help to test them. I would also like to have your comments and suggestions.

One notable thing I did was include a buildset script that I borrowed and modified. Icon themes tend to be very large. What I did was just archive the largest size and the script builds the other sizes during installation. So would happened basically is the download would be smaller but it would take Synaptic a little longer while the theme is installed.

Anyway, I currently have four sections (all decorative and nothing really useful YET) - Icons, KDM, KSplash and Plymouth - and a total of 23 packages. So as you can see, I'm also gonna need KDE testers.

The links to the SRPMs are:
Icon Themes - http://ge.tt/6N6XlsC
KDM Themes - http://ge.tt/6ZTDlnt
KSplash Themes - http://ge.tt/3iixlnR
Plymouth Themes - http://ge.tt/7Sbglnn

Thank you in advance for any of your help and comments.

Archie

Okay, Archibald, I have tried out a few of your packs.

I have tried out the Plymouth theme, Mud World Black, and it works as well as it can.  Looks very dark, but it does have the word "black" in the title.  :P  I have tried the KDM theme fluorescent world (as well as the Ksplash equivalent), contrast, wet air, and dry air.  Those seem to work and they look nice, too.

Can I hand in my application for Art and Graphics packager then?? ;)

It seems to be all I am doing at the moment. I still have to try and package an app but I couldn't find any. Either everything is already taken or I run into BuildRequire (>=) pitstops.

Usually stuff like this can be downloaded from within the configuration dialog, so I don't think that packing is necessary.  Besides, you don't need to check for many versions of the build requirements.  In fact, the build requirements for art-related packs is minimal.

Ertain. I didn't mean the build requirements for art-related packs.

Those seem to work and they look nice, too.

I don't think I have problems with those. I meant moving forward to packaging apps ... it would be nice to know how to get around STOP SIGNS and be a real packager. But like I previously posted, most apps with SRPMs already have their maintainers, new apps are getting BuildRequires that aren't met (either not available or we have the lower version) ...
