internet not working
« on: May 11, 2011, 10:16:39 AM »
Hi,

So I set up my network configurations in the "connection software" at the right bottom and now it stopped working. It worked only once, right after the installation but now it seems to stop functioning.

I had problems earlier where it would switch off my network card somehow but I solved it somehow.

But internet and network are still down for some reason? I can't even ping other machines on the network even though ifconfig shows everything set up correctly.

How can I solve it?

Thanks.

"connection software"   ???

Don't really know what you mean here but did you try to set up your connection via PCC? That blue circle left with the crossed tools...
There you find "Network and Internet" and there you should configure things at first.

Yes the icon on the right button.

I have set it up. It even shows correctly at ifconfig but it completely doesn't work. I can't even ping my local machines within the network. Very strange.

Try going into:

PCC (Configure Your Computer)  Network & Internet > Remove a connection..

Remove the one that is currently setup.

Probably not needed but I'd reboot to "flush" and settings that may linger........

Go to

PCC (Configure Your Computer)  Network & Internet > Set Up a New Network Interface....

and set your network connection again.
