Seems like my trouble is a bit different; kernel differences apart I can get the sound to work, but it disappears every time I reboot the machine, and therefore I got to reconfigure the card again and again.

Wow I totaly misread your first post and I assumed we were running the same kernel. Sorry for hijacking your thread. :-[

Anyways I just tried Kub..tu 11.04 and M..t 11RC which use 2.6.38.8 and my sound works. I also see Tex just put up 2.6.38.6 for testing so I'm going to stay with 2.6.33.7 until 2.6.38.6 is released and cross my fingers that works. ;)

Do you have a symlink /etc/asound.state linked to /var/lib/alsa/asound.state?

Thanks to everyone who donates. You keep the servers running.

No, I didn 't. I added it manually, and that seems to work. Thanks for your help.
