Just 19 ... to make this simple i am gonna break down your passage and then i hope you understand your silly request ...
"@Kori
I made no request ....... I made a couple of
suggestions.
I used the name of an app that is not, as far as I recall, in the ISO, as an example."
Yes firefox isnt in the iso ... why ... because XFCE has it's own browser called Midori ... so how Firefox looks to me is irrelivant nore is it a care ... PLease read the first message where it states it is packed with the XFCE native APPS ...The suggestion was that you might consider ensuring that there is consistency in the way apps are shown to the user in
your ISO.
Some have more descriptive entries than others.
Yes that may be due to the entries in the Desktop files at packaging ...... as is clearly illustrated by the FF example you quoted above. The English entry is possibly the only one without 'browser' in the
name.
Whether or not you consider the time to edit those few entries, to give consistency for the ISO, worth the effort is your decision.
It was a suggestion.
I am not personally going to go through 12000+ packages adjusting every name in every desktop file to satisfy your need for a menu that you want ... the packages are built by a group of dedicated people who i am not going to go behind them and double check the work they have done and change it ... if you want a change in the package ... then please add a thread to the broken packages section ... im sure that after a few times of you adding those type of futile messages that the packagers will be fed up with your request ... quite simple i will not be repackaging non XFCE apps to satisfy your suggestion or requestYour suggestion that an intermediate/advanced user who normally uses a different DE, should need to read a lot of material from elsewhere, such as the mag, before they find simple things like how to change theme/wallpaper etc. etc., will, IMO, ensure a lot those users, new to this DE, will just put it aside and forget it.
My suggestion was that a simple link to some help topics would be valuable to users new to the DE.
You need to re-read what i said about the intermediate/advanced users ...Phinx is the mini version designed for the Intermediate/advanced user ...
i went on to discuss your menu issue ... the above is a statement ... which means exactly what it says ... if you are a beginner then Phinx is not for you ... it's a mini iso and has been designed from the base up to use only native XFCE apps ... hence the reason i have specifically packaged native apps myself ... i have spent many months working on this iso ... Phinx is for the purist ... quite simply ... she has all the apps she needs to work and run and do every task i need her for ... if you choose to install nautilus or firefox .... then you have to live with the result they have on Phinx ...quite simply Phinx is for the intermediate/advanced user ... i shouldnt need to hold the users hand in using it ... valid requests and feedback are always welcome ...
