Did full system update yesterday, now Diablo II-LoD won't run under WINE - gives "unhandled exception error". Any ideas why & how to fix??

Not sure - not at my PC, as I have no internet...did update at friend's house. Yesterday was first update in about 2 months.
Should also note that it was working fine before updating

You did a reboot after update (since 2 months, we've had new KDE-releases and other stuff, that maybe require reboot)

What happens when you make a new user account, and test it there?
(or by renaming .wine to .wineOld, and testing it?) EDIT: in your home-directory (hidden folder!)

No joy...am trying remove & re-install of wine & libwine. Incidentally, installed versions are :

  wine : wine-1.2.3-1pclos2011.i586
  libwine : 1.2.3-1pclos2011.i586
  wine-gecko : 1.1.0-1pclos2011.i586

wine-1.3.19  is available is special section in PCLinuxOS repository  (the development package).

So add special into sections in synaptic  (after:  main updates nonfree kde4 games) and reload synaptic.

If it won't help then http://www.winehq.org/help/ is the best option.

After trying everything else I could think of, ended up re-formatting & re-installing using 2010.12 ISO. Did full update & installed wine - still no joy. Enabled 'special' in repo, updated wine to 1.3.19, still no joy with Diablo, Diablo II, Fallout, or Fallout 2. WineHQ forums recommended reverting to 1.1.12 or earlier. Any ideas where I might find .rpm for that old of a version (Googled it, but every link said "This version of WINE is out-dated. Find newer version of WINE")?? Should I maybe download source and build it myself? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks up front...

I had the same problem here is what fixed it for me. Go to "WINE Configurator", "Applications" and select Windows XP as the Windows version. For some reason mine was set to Windows 95 when I did a new install.
I hope this helps.

I had the same problem of the update seemingly setting wine to Windows 95 when I updated.  Does anyone run Wine in anything other than Windows XP mode?

Just updated to PCLOS 2011 last night...now there is joy is my PC again. WINE working great, PC running better than ever. Like the new boot theme...great work devs!!
P.S. Configurator was already set to XP. Diablo II has a video test to determine compatible video modes. When I ran this test before it said 'No Video Modes Found.' After the newest updates, everything works again. Gotta love Linux!!
