+1 ... as long as you take that virus off of the hard drive, and replace it with PCLinuxOS.   ;D

I have a Lenovo G530 that's a little over a year old. I love it. It runs PCLinuxOS exceptionally well.

Hurry, Price good only thru tomorrow $499.99 us

Hi. The specs are different to the model I am considering here in OZ. I'm getting a bigger HDD (500 vs 320) and has a core i5 not i3.

I wanted to avoid the core i3 because of the horrid video driver problems people are reporting. The one I'm looking at has a nvidia gpu which should be more suitable given the track record of nvidia.

Am I barking up the wrong tree with the core i3?

the lenovo looks good but it seems to be heavy(3 kilograms + charger) and big if it really has a dedicated numeric keyboard(it says it is 15.6" screen, not sure about this)

i remember some users having problems with a nvidia 240m, not sure if this 310 is better or more linux friendly

can you test it before buying it?  with a recent kernel, a remastered version maybe?

about the virus

i normally wipe everything on the hard disk and then divide hard disk into two parts, one for linux and the other for windows(i already paid for it, i will use it)

remember to get a installation disc for the windows you got, if not find one on microsoft or in internet

My kid has Lenovo G460 with a Core I3 and Nvidia graphics, run PCLOS beautiful.

I like Lenovo laptops and this one was with a good seasonal discount in December.

Looks like a nice machine, although I am not a Intel fanboy.
A note on dual boot on a machine of others. In theory a nice "guesture' but in my experience it doesn't work that well in helping or trying to convert one. They have a choice: Something they know and something ... ehh different. It is only the real interested that can use that option. After a while they simply don't try the Linux option anymore. So... It is ALL or nothing!  :D
