[ Solved ] Pidgin Embedded Video Plugin

For some time now Pidgin has failed to play embedded videos.
This is a plug-in which allows a video to be played within the Pidgin window, when a link is received by IM.

Does this presently work for others?

I would like to make sure it is a problem specific to my install before spending time trying to trace the cause.

Returning to this issue as we have had some serious updates in the meantime .......

On several PCs now I do not have this function ......  it shows a placeholder but the video never plays.

I think all these PCs were installed from the same remaster, so it still may be something in my setup .......  I would appreciate any information from others whether this embedded video playing is working for them or not.

BTW .....  it is Youtube videos which I would most wish to use .......

I have just tried the latest Openbox on LiveUSB and it does play an embedded video.

So it is most likely my install & remaster that is at fault. 

What happens is this .....

with the packages installed and the plugin enabled ....  when someone sends you a link to a video you can watch the video in the Pidgin IM window, instead of having to launch a browser to view the video.

If you wish to try it, we can do an IM session and send video links to see if they will play in the Pidgin window.

Just to clear this thread up .......  it must have been something in the install media .......  new installs are OK.
