For what it is worth,
I installed "task-printing-misc" yesterday to install a brother printer. After the "task-printing-misc" program was installed, I manually started cups server, then accessed cups at "
http://localhost:631", clicked on Add Printer, and it showed the brother printer in the top section of "Local Printers". The printer was connected by usb.
You will have to have the printer connected to the computer for it to be this easy though.
It was a piece of cake.
