I have only 4GB space free in / ( 13GB in total, used 9GB ), and a separate /home with 6GB free ( 15GB in total )
Now I want to make a complete backup of the system. Is it possible to save the iso directly on my portable hard drive? The portable HD has around 100GB free space.

Yes it should be.

Use the mylivecd options to use tmp on the portable drive, and to save the ISO there also.
Exclude the contents of the portable drive from the remaster.

To see the range of options do, in a terminal

mylivecd   --help

That is what I think you need.

regards.
