I wandered on to an really old HTML informational page this is, frankly, as ugly as a hat full of ....

The main problem is the background image is poor contrast with the text and is very hard to read. Years ago, when this happened I remember turning off images somehow. But now, browsing with forefox 4, I can't find any way to make the background image go away bar saving the page and editing the html or copy/pasting text and gifs.

Any ideas?

I have "Web Developer" Addon installed, it lets you deactivate everything on a site by choice. Maybe overkill for a single page, though.
All that is is good. PCLinuxOS is.

Thinkpad X61 Tablet, Core2Duo 1.66 MHz, 4 GB Ram, Intel onboard Graphics, Plextor PX-256M3 256 GB SSD; Thinkpad R61i, Core2Duo 1.66 MHz, 2 GB Ram, Intel onboard graphics, 120 GB HDD

Left click mouse (&hold) and drag over the text area usually inverts the colors enough to make them legible....  even if it is white text on a white background! ;)

Just install the NoSquint addon.

It allows you to disable background images on a per site basis.

It will also allow you to separately define the text and background colors.

It is an absolute must have on sites designed by folks who try to make an artsy statement without realizing that not everybody has the same monitor that they have.
