Problems with running Re-Mastered DVD
« on: April 25, 2011, 03:28:28 AM »
I have followed the instructions on doing a remaster, bleechbit, bleechbit root, df, umount -a and mylivecd pclinuxos gnome 2011.iso. All seems to go well and can burn the image. When i run the disc it always stalls at choose keyboard layout. The layout on this laptop is Italian which is highlighted in the window but I am unable to change it and the keyboard and mouse dont respond. I thought it may have something to do with my home folder in some way so i started over but this time ran mylivecd --nodir=^/home/steve steve-pclinux2010.11.iso so as to ignore the home folder settings. The ISO was 806mb as opposed to 2.6GB but the result was the same when i came to run it.
The laptop is an IBM T43 and I have the IBM utilities installed,is this affecting the remaster? Or is it a case of a permissions issue or group membership problems. Am really at a loss on how to cure this after several attempts and hours reading the posts on the forum.
When i update the kernel the keyboard freezes aswell but after a reboot all is well, dont know if that is relevant.

I would try a USB keyboard plugged in and then start the boot ........  to see if that keyboard worked ...

If the issue is related to the not included config files from your home, you still should be able to log in as root.

I can select keyboard support from BIOS in some PCs .......  this should, if available, ensure you can use the keyboard during boot, supported by BIOS, and not the OS that is booting.

Worth a try?

Not a problem ......  happens all the time here .....  it appears that it fails to run, but is called later also and it then fires up OK.

No .........  liveCD/DVD uses isolinux and not Grub.

In any case, the disk is booting, as I understand, but you do not have use of your keyboard during the boot.
Grub's job is just to get the OS boot started.

Have you looked in the BIOS for some keyboard setting? ......  obviously it is working initially, but apparently hands over to the OS and fails ........  if you can select to use the BIOS keyboard setting and not the OS then you might have success --------  just a guess of course  ;)

Have looked in the Bios and it seems i dont have that option, the live CD stalls at the choose keyboard GUI
