SOLVED - No wifi connection in virtualbox.
« on: April 23, 2011, 05:03:08 AM »
I have a VB (4.0) setup with PcLos as host and XP as guest. It has been working well for some months but recently has lost my internet connection. I get the error message Cable unconnected despite the fact that I have a wireless network.

I've checked the VB Instructions but the network section is a bit beyond me. I've also googled it and found it to be a common problem but got no help that I could understand.

Can anyone help. Thanls - Maurice

Hi,

open VirtualBox, select your current XP machine, goto Settings -> Network -> Adapter1 -> Advanced ,
and verify that the checkbox "cable connected" is flagged=marked=enabled.

Network in virtual box is set up in 2 places:
- VBox management console (or whatever it's called) -> File -> Preferences -> Network, here you should find an adapter (vboxnet0)

and for each guest machine:
- Guest -> Settings -> Network ...  (the one you checked out right now)

If you have another guest, other than the XP, you can check if that one is working, will help to understand if the problem is guest side or host side.

Yes, I have the 'cable connected' checked in each place. I only have one guest.

Fixed it.

I set up my wifi network again and reset the key manually instead of letting it be done automatically. Doing it that way I found that the key had got corrupted. I entered the correct one and the problem was solved. ;D ;D

Many thanks for your help as
