yes, same here, some really weird problems sometimes happens and you can't replicate them, not even a idea of what could be happening or how to help  :-\

@CJ, and all others still having firefox or libsqlite3 problems:

If you have followed the thread, the reinstallation of libsqlite3 is highly advisable.

AS

Trying to keep up, but no luck. I have reinstalled libsqlite3 - following that, FF and xulrunner, just to give it a try.
This is where I am at at the moment:
Code: [Select]
ls -l /usr/lib/libsql*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root     19 Apr 17 11:45 /usr/lib/libsqlite3.so.0 -> libsqlite3.so.0.8.6*
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 646640 Apr 14 19:20 /usr/lib/libsqlite3.so.0.8.6*

rpm -qa | grep sqlite
qt4-database-plugin-sqlite-4.7.2-1pclos2011
libsqlite3_0-3.7.6.1-1pclos2011

rpm -qa | grep libglib
libglib1.2-1.2.10-17pclos2007
libglib2.0_0-devel-2.28.6-1pclos2011
libglib2.0_0-2.28.6-1pclos2011
libglibmm2.4_1-2.28.0-1pclos2011

firefox
Segmentation fault

firefox -safe-mode
Segmentation fault

I have three other machines that needs updating, but until I can get a fix for this one, I am holding back.

Cheers!

CJ,

are you fully update ? after update, did you reboot ?
can you check again for update ? what mirror are you using ?

Don't know if you are alone with this issue, but I'm sure it will be fixed.  ;)

Have you updated today? There was a new sqlite3 update to 3.7.6.2. Everything is functioning on all my systems including a new installation and full update on KDE4 2010.12. I'm truly sorry but I cannot fix what isn't broken on my test installations. You might try to download the sqlite3 files from ibiblio.org, put them in a folder then rpm -Uvh --replacepkgs --replacefiles *.rpm

If you want to test whether is it system wide or something is stuff it up in your existing user account then create a new user after updating,  log in as the new user and see if Firefox will start.

I just tried that latest update, sadly the error persists.
Also tried with another user, same difference.

I shall try your suggestion of replacepkgs a little later and report back.

Sorry to report a no-go on this one too...  :-[

It's beginning to look like I am looking at a reinstall (though I shall hold off until the next ISO is out).
To add, I am now reluctant to update my other three machines... or maybe I should just go ahead on one of them to start with?

Cheers!

CJ,

other than firefox, are you aware of other packages not working on the same machine ?

No, none to my knowledge.

It just dawned on me... I probably should have made mention of using the latest PAE+BFS kernel (2.6.38.2-pclos1.pae.bfs). I don't think it's the issue as FF was working fine with this beforehand, but thought I'd better mention it.
(And many thanks to Tex for making the pae-bfs combo available!!)

Cheers!

CJ,

until now we haven't had any useful hint about the firefox issue of your system, the following is a bit extreme, worth to try:
from a root console, copy and paste the following commands:

strace firefox 2>&1 | grep open

please post the last  50 to 100 lines ... (use copy & paste)

This command gives no output for me.

I did notice something else that might point in the right direction: When trying to start FF as root, I get a different error:
Code: [Select]
firefox
**
GLib-GIO:ERROR:gdbusconnection.c:2279:initable_init: assertion failed: (connection->initialization_error == NULL)
Aborted

You can try removing everything in the .dbus/session-bus folder

You can also try deleting everything in /tmp /root/tmp and /home/your-name/tmp then reboot.

It that doesn't work you can also delete everything in .cache .config .local folders after backing them up somewhere.
