Yesterday I installed the latest version of LXDE on one of my machines. It installed with no problem. I then did a complete update. No problem. I then installed the rest of the programs I need for my work. All went perfectly until I came to install Libre Office - which is the one I need more than any other. The install via lomanager went fine and everything works on it apart from the 'Save' function. When I try to save anything - via the drop-down menu or via CTRL+S it freezes the whole program. A box appears asking me if I'd like to force its closure. That seems the only way out of it.
I'm using the latest lomanager in the repo. And I've downloaded and used that manager from two different repos, doing a reboot in between - just in case the first one I used was corrupt. Anybody got any thoughts on this? It's a complete deal-breaker in terms of my working on that machine in that location.
Later that day -- I've now got some sort of handle on it and weirdly it seems to be related to Spider Oak. I've tried this now on two different machines - each with a new LXDE install, fully updated. Putting it simply - after best part of three hours playing around with it - with Spider Oak installed (via the repo) if I use the 'Save' or 'Save As' functions (via drop-down and via keystrokes) it locks Libre Office up solid. If I completely un-install Spider Oak (not just 'Uninstall - that doesn't work) Libre Office works perfectly. I couldn't begin to hazard a guess as to what's that about, but what it does mean is that I either have to get rid of LXDE (there's no problem with Gnome on my main machine) or go back to using Dropbox instead of Spider Oak. OK, Dropbox is brilliant - apart from, in my opinion - its security. Your data, including your password, is not - as in Spider Oak - encrypted on your computer. How important that is in the final analysis is impossible to tell. But I have in the past experienced one heart-stopper with Dropbox (turned out alright in the end) and so I'm a bit wary .
But if anybody has any light to throw on what seems to be a problem unique to me

and my systems, I'd be really intrigued. And very happy to re-install Spider Oak.
