Xfce plugins
« on: April 12, 2011, 02:54:06 AM »
Just installed Xfce 2010 and updated via Synaptic. Checked out the Pclinux mag issues re Xfce and decided to install some of the xfce plugins.

When I marked the xfce screenshooter plugin for installation it displayed in the additional required changes that task-xfce was to be removed???? Does this sound right.

Another quick question I have read that 4.6.2 will be updated to 4.8, via Synaptic I presume, any idea when this will occur or do I need to apply some other logic for the upgrade to work.

yes Ray that does sound right ... Task-Xfce is a single package which will install the bare essential of the XFCE desktop ... as for the 4.8 it is coming and will be upgradable through synaptic ... all my testing of upgrading from 4.6 seems to go flawlessly ... so i would expect in the near future the update to be released ... altho i do know that the Boss has some plans for xorg and stuff ... so it may come after that time ...

Thanks Sproggy, I'll run the update then. Thanks for the info re 4.8 I'll look forward to updating as and when it arrives. Very impressed with what I've seen of Xfce so far.

Ray, one thing about Screenshooter is it does not include an icon, so you will have to add one yourself when adding it to the taskbar.  This may have changed recently though.

Sproggy, does the weather plugin now work with 4.8?  That was one of the major issues I could not get to work when I tested it.

According to this they have fixed the issue in version 0.7.4.  Maybe this weekend I'll compile it, adn give it a try.

this is the version i have packaged up ... i had to roll back slightly on the installed version ... i am waiting on the latest version to be built with a requirement for exo 0.6 as currently the latest still relies on exo 0.3

but if you do wnat a working version ... the latest Phinx release is out and has the Weather plugin running fine ...

Thanks Sproggy!  I am happy though with my 4.6.2 desktop.  No real hurry to upgrade.
