Enlightenment

Hi everyone

I run Pclos kde up to date  .... does installing the enlightenment packages mean I can boot into usual enlightenment environment?

Well silverbirch , I do not use KDE, but I guess that installing 'task-enlightenment ", will have what you want.
Remember to disable compiz, before restarting session to begin e17.

yes, you can add to a kde4 installation e17, gnome, lxde, xfce and other desktops

on the kdm screen, where you select user and password you can press the session type button and select on that list the desktop you want load

when you add it to your system you don't boot to it, it is just a option, a optional desktop environment, it will have access to all your kde4 apps, your same home folder and all your resources already configured in kde4

kde4 will have access to the new e17 apps too

Okay thanks for that I've installed the packages, and it does look very nice.  I didn't have compiz as my graphics card doesn't support (or something).

A couple of questions - how do I remove and add things to and from the panel e.g. Thunderbird and Chromium.

And there seems to be a lot of clutter at the top of my screen and when I attempt Internet banking I can't scroll down far enough to enter my password - am currently back in KDE,

Newbies can use the i-NG task dock to set up applications on a zoomable dock like in Mac OSX. That's the easiest way to eliminate clutter. A more configurable third party drag and drop dock would be Docky.

silverbirch, you may wish to look through the last few issues of the PCLinuxOS magazine.  There have been several articles on understanding, setting up, and customizing E17.  It seems like all good stuff, though I've just gotten started myself.  I never seem to have enough time.  Family, friends, and most of all, that pesky "job" thing.

Whose idea was that anyway?

Is the panel you are referring to the "shelf" at the bottom of the e17 screen? What do you see when you right-click on that panel?

Can you be more specific about the "clutter" at the top of your screen? Is it some e17 widgets or is it icons? Are you doing your banking from a web browser or some other application? If it's a web browser, which one are you using?
