Because my nephew's now being a slight virus risk when using his granddad's Vista laptop I've set up a little Linux partition for him to play Flash games and things. I went for PCLinuxOS as it co-operated with the terrible SiS graphics chip like no other distro seemed to and I'm pretty pleased with it. But I can't see where I can stop the being prompted about passwords each time I try to connect. At home I use Linux Mint 9 Gnome Edition and I know I can just type in no password, then click ok twice with a little warning about 'unsafe storage' and then there's no more being bothered by the key ring prompts. Is there an equivalent in PCLOS?
The installation is set up for automatic login, and this laptop, an Advent 9115, has to have its wireless turned on manually each time with fn & F9, if this is relevant at all.
Slightly jerky touchpad movement, a not too quick boot time and the occasional short-lived freezes opening windows but apart from that for a 1.4ghz dual core machine I'm otherwise pleased to have sidestepped my parents' financial ruin and would just like to iron out this last issue.
Although actually there seems quite a long pause when it just says Grub Loading on the screen - can that be altered?
Thanks.
