installing "source' URIs in your sources.list"
« on: April 09, 2011, 11:46:53 PM »

Hi to all,

I have tried to resolve the above problem, but am at a loss of what to do next.

I would like to make better use of the shell. My Synaptic Package Manager works fine, is fully updated and the following sections in use, "main updates nonfree kde4 games".

I understand that apt-get may be used to compile and install from code and this may be a good way of starting out as a novice. The following represents my problem.

# apt-get build-dep pine
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
E: You must put some 'source' URIs in your sources.list

The following command was supposed to retrieve the source files needed and help me on my way.
#apt-get source foo
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
E: You must put some 'source' URIs in your sources.list

So, if anyone out there can help me to progress and put some "source" URIs into my sources.list, it would be appreciated.

Thank you,

sevenjen

This is not supported at this time because we are close to doing away with Synaptic and apt-get.

Thanks to everyone who donates. You keep the servers running.

I may have missed it elsewhere, but, have you decided/announced what you are moving to Tex?

Ditto. And this time it wouldn't be B Bacon killing the kitten. ;)
