if you need a dvd drive, this removes form the list a large portion of netbooks, there is some dualcore atoms with dvd drive and 2gbs of ram, 12" displays at decent price

this one doesn't have a optical drive but you always can buy a cheap external optical unit

lenovo could be another option

Netbooks were never a consideration. Too small.

3 laptops using latest amd chipset, good price, good battery life but possibly not compatible with linux yet(video on cpu)
