Application splash screens erratic
« on: April 07, 2011, 08:25:52 AM »
When I open some applications with their own splash screens sometimes they come up, other times I just get a white empty window.  I cannot see any pattern, it's not, for example, that it shows only on the first time I open it each boot as I once thought.

In particular I have noticed this with K3B from the repo and Vuescan installed locally.

I'm using a fully updated LXDE with quite a lot of KDE3 bits installed as well (as required to make other programs work)

Not a serious problem, but clearly a minor bug of some sort.

It could be a bug, but equally it could easily be coz your "mixing" apps from 2 different environments and stuff from outside the repos.

Is it only happening on splash screen images or does it occur elsewhere.

Mebbe the "splash" images have got corrupted - could try removing them and adding "new" ones back.

Menotu:  Only the splash screens are showing the problem - as I said it's not very important.  Not sure what you mean by "mixing" apps,  I never run both at the same time, and rarely during the same boot.  If it were only Vuescan I would put it down to "not in repo", but K3B is very definitely from the repo.
