Dell N5010 laptop low sound volume
« on: March 30, 2011, 08:11:20 AM »
I am new to PClinuxOS and need help with sound on my laptop, It's a Dell N5010. I can hear it but the volume is very low. All the sliders are at 100% in Kmix with very little difference in volume. I also ran sound config in control panel. Any suggestion?  ???

Thanks, Winman

P.S. My user name has no relevance to Microsoft...Really dislike! :(

You can try right clicking on the volume control icon and then left click
select master channel and try the different ones to see if
there is any improvement

Yes the volume control is 100%. I booted my live PClinuxOS KDE cd and tried it also to see if it was something after I updated the system and still the same problem. I downloaded and tried Pheonix Xfce, Lxde, Enlightenment and sound worked with those distro's. I wonder if it might be something with the KDE4 desktop? I really want this to work because I like KDE. I downloaded Google Earth and also have a problem with it also, When I click the icon it shows the window briefly then goes away.  ???

Thanks, Winman

Ok I am pleased to say my sound is working GREAT after updating a few minutes ago. Thanks to whoever is responsible for the new updates!  ;D
Google Earth is still not working properly but I guess I need to research and post that that in another post. I am new to PClinuxOS but very happy so far with what I can do with it considering I am a NOOB....LOL
