Help Files ? [SOLVED]
« on: March 29, 2011, 04:25:31 PM »
I launch kate editor as normal.
Press F1 for help file, but gets error message.
The requested help file could not be parsed:/usr/share/doc/HTML/en//kate/index.docbook
Notice the double // in path above.
Is there an easy fix ?  Or perhaps a "correct" way to fix ?
TIA's for tips and clues.   :)

It seems to me that the docbook files for Kate are either corrupted or in a slightly different format and thus are not being displayed.

A similar situation seems to affect the Kwrite help file .....  docbook file

I'd try reinstalling kdesdk4-kate. The docbook files come with the program.

The double slash won't be the root of the problem: the system (Bash) interprets a double slash, or a triple slash, as a single one.
Feed the trolls!
They need it!

kdesdk4-kate reinstalled using synaptic
Unfortunately, problem remains.
I restarted kate, but not KDE yet.  Too many apps open and work in progress.  Later.

Of what use be there for joy, if not for the sharing thereof?

Yes indeed.  Thank you so much for helping.  :)  :)

BTW, perhaps this important package should be installed by default, since so many Help files depend on it.
