yes they will both be using Xfce 4.8 ... i will be starting the Phoenix theme as soon as i have finished Phinx .... both will be close in design as to not deter from the overall theme feel ...

Kori

I am a little late to the party, but I wanted you to know that I concur with all the previous comments regarding the theme you showed us a the beginning of this thread -- it's beautiful!

Once you get 4.8.x to sing and dance the way you would like, this looks like it could be a really awesome remix. I check in every day or so -- anticipation can be a positive emotion ;)...

Thanks for the preview.

Hi,
so am I right that you are going to release standard Phoenix Live CD already with Xfce 4.8? My friend asked me for some linux OS for some old crap and Xfce was always my second favourite WM (first is KDE, sorry  ::) ). I found out that Phoenix is no more available form the Dropbox link and althought I found some link here it looked better to wait for the new version. Is there any approximate release date (few weeks, few months ...)?

thanks

The standard reply to that is 'It's ready when it's ready' .... sorry it's not more specific.

My first favorite DE was KDE as well, and I still love it.... it's just that XFCE is lighter than KDE, and so runs better on older hardware. I run it on my 5 year-old desktop and it's very fast.

I'm thinking it won't be long before Sproggy has it all polished up and ready for us!!!

Hi

Thanks for the new addition Phinx

ONE of ONLY a few distros that will even load a livecd on an Intel Quad with stand alone EVGA 8400GS nViodia card

Only others were MDV.

So installed it - added a few personal preferences - Firefox ETC - just a couple of niggles for now --->>>
Would love to have a new theme - tired OLD eyes having difficulty with the charcoal and black but have not found how too.

Plus NO sound - VLC plays the video but no sound (youtube)

Being rather devoid of command line expertize would love some help here

Think this is enough for now

Just hope someone can point me in the right dirction

Cheers for Years
Colin

People have found it helpful to run "alsaconf" in the terminal in order to get the sound working.

It might also help in synaptic to sniff around the gstreamer libs and install some of those.

As far as the themes are concerned, you'll find a few in synaptic as well.  xfce-look.org is also a site with a lot of themes.  Otherwise you could just change your wallpaper.

Good luck and have fun!  :D
