[SOLVED] VLC Black screen
« on: March 24, 2011, 01:36:41 PM »
Got a wee problem with VLC and playing .flv files. What I get is a black screen, but I do get sound.

My system is fully updated as of this morning. I have VLC version .1.1.8-1pclos2011 (thanks tex for doing that)
I am running on a AMD 2800+ with 2 gigs memory with a GeForce 2 video card

The .flv file works fine when using SMPlayer.   Anyone have any ideas?

Have you tried any of the video output options other than Default in the Tools -> Preferences -> Video?

Thanks to everyone who donates. You keep the servers running.

In Tools --> Preferences --> Video try ;

GLX video output (XCB)
X11 video output (XCB)
XVideo output (XCB)

The top two are about equal for me, while the last works but is a little less color dense. I suppose that could also be corrected, but I was just seeing what choices worked with my .flv files.

Of what use be there for joy, if not for the sharing thereof?

Thanks ole  wise one... Why the heck didn't I think of that.  It works, using the X11 Video Output (XCB)

 ;D ;D ;D

That's what mine was set at, when I first checked, then I just went through the rest of the list.

Again thanks for the suggestion.  Mine was originally set to default.  Anyway I am a happy camper now.
