mylivecd trouble ( Solved)
« on: March 23, 2011, 03:19:26 PM »
Got a new hardrive. Installed a fresh install of PCLinuxOS 2010.12 kde. Done all upgrades. Installed the 2.6.37 pae series kernel. My machine rocks but I cant remaster. I searched the forum but found nothing. I suspect it is related to the 2.6.37 kernel. Here is my output.

calhost tony]# mylivecd

mylivecd has been taken out of "service" for the time being until it can be used with the new kernels etc......

I think there are a few posts on the forum which may give you a tad more info

Well seems I did not search well enough. That explains it. I am sure a update will be forthcoming to fix this. Instead I will enjoy my blazing fast new install.

Thanks menotu.

When mylivecd is prepared for the new kernels, an update will appear in the repos.

Meanwhile, if you check the Software Announcements section regularly, you can spot things like this and be ahead and possibly help others. :)

Thanks Neal. To tell you the truth I have never checked the software announcements. I will from now on.

Well this is the official reason, but I think there is a conspiracy to prevent us from remastering the latest kernels.  :-X

Out if interest, am I right in thinking that if you have both a 2.6.33 and 2.6.37 kernel installed there's nothing to stop you booting with 2.6.33 doing the myliveCD thing and after reinstalling, or whatever, you can reset to boot into the 2.6.37 kernel.

I believe that would be correct. Or you could remove the 2.6.37 kernel, remaster, install and then re-install the 2.6.37 kernel.

One good reason to keep an older kernel when installing the latest and greatest. It's always been my habit to do this.

Since the latest updates the mylivecd now works perfectly. As per texstar's announcement it takes about twice as long to create but when booting to the live cd it seems to uncompress quicker and operates more smoothly. Thanks texstar.
