The low sound is only apparent when recording with ffmpeg .......  all apps play with good sound levels.
When playing back the recorded file the sound level in some of the apps could be raised sufficiently to hear .....  but anything else making a sound at that time would likely blow the speakers.

It is the recorded file that has the low volume .

I am pleased that I can record any screen video on this rig .......  there is a temporary graphics card in there and it is useless -  ‎RV380 [Radeon X600 (PCIE)]
Trying to play any HD video or such is pointless ......  the CPU falls over with the load  :D

I had reduced the FPS to try to take a load off when recording.

Thanks for the two suggestions for the command.
I will try them soon ...  maybe if I get a graphics card for this  .......

regards.

ok guys... i got whats happening here.... the video capture using recordmydesktop is very nice...
but the audio captures the sound from the Mic... its with very good volume and very clear..
but what if i want to capture the audio from the desktop...
for example... if i am playing a video and i want to capture the audio from that video only???
in the options i found that the sound capture uses the "default" option... i get that i need to change that... what to put instead??
thx alot
Hope that one day ill be able to help as much as I'm being helped now...

I don't know if this is what you want to do, but there is a add on in firefox that will record your video from you tube etc also can just take the music. playback is in any form you want.

What options do you have to select from?

Using the sound card output should be what you need.

I am unsure how you have your hardware set up ...  I started RMD and played a song with VLC and when I played it back the song was included in the recording.

I made no changes to the settings in RMD.
Did nothing in fact except run RMD and VLC.

Have you tried a few apps to see if the problem is app related?

Other than that all I can say is that you may need to change the default so that it works in your setup.
