in what app?

temp monitor .. .. but found it was set up with Celsius .. so its running hot as hell ..

anywhere from 60C to 100C when using it.. but it rarely cools down after use .. might go to 80C and hang there..

prolly need to check it and redo cooling paste thing ..

I discovered that if
  • I change my localisation to UK, or
change the measure system from imperial to metric in the country / region and language of the system settings
then it changes from F to C. Now I cant remember which one did it exactly but you can try either or both and this I attempted in kde. Good luck! ;)

it sounds like a celeron from that P4 era so it could be normal, a good clean and verification of thermal paste could help

what video is on that laptop?

Yes! I also am on a quest to find out how to get the LXDE temperature monitor to display in Fahrenheit. I think it might be a script somewhere. I use a script in Xfce along with genmon to show the temp in my taskbar, however i cannot find a similar script in LXDE.

Been there. That appears to be just a text file that shows the current temp. If you refresh it you will see it changes in sync with the readout in the panel cpu temperature. Also it will not let you save it after you edit it. I think it is created at boot up and therefore is in use. Can not even save an edited version with full permissions. I looked at my proc directory in an lxde distro  while i was booted into a different distro and it is absolutely empty. So I think those files are made on the fly and not present once the machine is powered off. I am able to change a conky from C to F by adding temperature_unit fahrenheit to the conkyrc file, however I cannot find the configuration files for the lxde temperature monitor. But I will keep digging. Google and other searches turn up very little, Im afraid.

I know this is an old thread, but I find myself looking for a simple answer to the original question, and see that this issue has yet to be truly solved?  Or did I miss something here?  Why was this marked (Resolved)?

Pardon if I blew by the solution - on weekend duty I don't get much sleep.

And it looks like a different temperature add-on for LXDE, a thingy called LXtemp, goes in the panel tray just like Temperature Monitor, but displays Fahrenheit when you mouse over it... works for me, anyway.

Thanks.  Your reply spurred me to do the digging that led to this.
