PCLOS running on VMWare - Problem with sounds in Firefox
« on: March 21, 2011, 08:01:07 PM »
I can hear sounds when I play either music or videos as well as system sounds but I cannot hear any sounds when I'm using Firefox v3.6.13, like on YouTube, etcetera? It can't be VMWare tools not being installed as I can hear system sounds and when I listen to music or videos "offline"! Sound is turned up all the way as well as turned up all the way on YouTube...so, what could be the problem?

Thanks,
QBall

P.S.
I'm using VMWare v3.1.3 build-324285
eMachines, AMD Athlon II X2 250u Processor 1.60 GHz, 4GB RAM, video: GeForce 6150SE nForce 430/integrated/SSE2/3DNOW! v2.1.2 NVIDIA 304.51, 4GB RAM, 500 GB hard drive, Windows HP SP1 64-bit (pre-installed), FullMonty 2012.09 / Kernel: 3.2.18-pclos2.bfs (i686) / KDE4-version: 4.9.5

If TNTman's advice doesn't work you could also try

You may be sticking with Firefox 3.6.13 for various reasons (addon compatibility etc), but on the slight off chance you are unaware, Firefox 4 is in the repos
PCLinuxOS 32bit KDE 4.10.1; kernel-3.4.11-pclos1.bfs & 64bit 3.2.18bfs; NVidia GeForce 8400GS 1GB 310.19 driver
