(Solved) e17 leaking memory into X?
« on: March 19, 2011, 01:52:32 AM »
Hi i need some folks who have e17 installed next to another DE to try to confirm my findings.

When i login into e17, X takes up only 20 to 30 mb memory. When i just leave e17 running without opening apps (except for lxterminal and htop) X memory usage slowly grows, after 12 hours it takes +/- 500mb.

Did the same test with lxde, after 12 hours of idling X only consumed 40mb.

Please try out and see if you can reproduce.

Every windows machine has an un-patchable critical vulnerability... Its called "Power ON" switch.

Change your cursor settings to X not Enlightenment with Idle effects. Will go away on the xorg update.

smurfslover,

I ran into the same thing a while back. I was losing about 10% system memory per day. Tex told me to switch mouse cursor theme from enlightenment to X. After doing so, problem disappeared.
