Hi -- I am still running pclos 2009 because I can't get certain apps to run under the newer KDE4 version; I understand 2009 isn't "supported" anymore but I was hoping someone might help anyway since this may be a more general problem/screw-up. In the midst of trying to get an upgraded video card to work, I selected the wrong driver (it was one called "nvidia", I think). It didn't work and threw me out to a command line. Now, even with my old/original video card re-inserted (it is a Zotac Geforce GS8400), I can't get to the desktop -- only to a command-line prompt. I KNOW that the correct driver is the NVIDIA 180 driver (the one that covers all of the 6xxx, 7xxx, 8xxx, and 9xxx series Nvidia card -- the hardware utility detects it as the 6100 driver). My question is:
How do I select that driver from the command line?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. [I am a newbie so if you could type out the complete command(s) I would need to use (including any file paths to get to the driver file) it would be a big help. And yes, I do feel like an idiot]. I am typing this from a windows box.
