Hope this is the place to post:

Updated my laptop today (march 14th). Saw that the KDE 4.4.6 installed during updating. After, when wanting to change my wallpaper by rightclicking on the desktop, the screens blanks out (black) with my network icon flicking on the upper left side of the screen. When trying to run a program the computer freezes. Although I could logout wiht ctrl+alt+backspace. Restarted the machine a few times same thing happens. Got pissed. Logged out, logged in as root, copied all files to root, deleted standard user and added (him) via the control center, copied all files back to him.
Now - logging back in as the 'new' standard user everything is reset. Ok I thought - doesn't matter at all as long as I got to log in as standard user. Now , when I wanted to change the wallpaper, right-clicking on the desktop and choosing the lowest subject on the context menu - nothing happens! I'd like ti have the ability to change my wallpaper. Can anyone help?

I use the DELL Vostro 1000, with PCLOS KDE. Installed the newest PCLOS in march.

Am grateful for any advise.

Added info:

Sorry, not the KDE 4.4.6, but the KDE 4.6. Since the 4.6 is brand new, I suspect no one's even come across this bug yet.

Re-install the kde4-config package from the Synaptic Package Manager. Log out and back in again

Hey ;) Thanks for the tip. Didn't have to though. I read somewhere on the forums about updating. With some sheer pure luck this is what i did: Got into Synaptic again. Marked all upgrades (again) and whoa - the Apply button got green. Pressed it and the kde-base upgraded itself. I guess I got lucky.
Anyway it worked.
I'm gonna find out about what makes KDE tick. Get an overview about it, Gnome and Xface.
There is a pattern here. Use the synaptic. Read the forums, thoroughly. Find a solution one-self. Unless you're completely stuck that is.
Now I know about the kde4-config package. From the name implied, I suspect the configuration's broken somehow during the process, but upgrading the base package, does the work too. (Thinking out loud)

(One cannot make a horse drink, unless it's thirsty)

Thank you, Ramchu =)
