Another firefox crashes issue (Solved)
« on: March 27, 2011, 08:40:43 AM »
Hello

I feel this is a software issue and here is why. I had to reload winblows  on her machine and i suggested she should try Linux also. Well I loaded the Linux and  put it The Linux version of all the software she would use on the winblows side. The only thing I couldn't get is open office at the time. I even loaded Flock and Google chrome now here is the fun.

Now first I did restart the computer after all the updates and what not after which I try to use Firefox and it pop up and disappears quickly.  I check on here to see if there was any similar issues there was, but it had to with librunner or something and also M4.  here is the issue when i went to launch it from Command line

Quote
[kathy@localhost ~]$ firefox
Could not create gnome accelerators directory `/home/kathy/.gnome2/accels': Permission denied
[kathy@localhost ~]$

that was before i removed it so I went into root reloaded it and it works ,but still wont work on the other account.

now Firefox worked in the copy to ram even after i did the update since i got the latest iso only 47 updated were needed.

I must mention that navigator didn't work ,but flock and chrome did Oh on a side not I have successfully resize a vista partition to install the linux side I did use the Mib.  How i must mention the vista was not updated at all so maybe one of the issues I keep hearing about resizing winblows maybe was included  in their updates that went like  this0"ME! ME! ME! Mine! Mine! one OS period!!!" ;D

Thanks in Advance

Its a permission issue on that folder and maybe on files in that folder. Files and folder's permissions do not change when a program is (re)installed and hence the only way to fix this is to change the permissions.

Open the terminal, log in as root and type these commands and start firefox and see if it will run

chown -R kathy:kathy  /home/kathy/.gnome2/
.. 3 things are certain in life : death, taxes and software bloat ..
.. tell me something i don't know, something i can use as i struggle to reason with the world around me ..
