How do you install open office ?
I have experience of DOS/Windows.
I have searched in Synaptic and there is nothing obvious there.

PC --> Software Center --> LibreOffice Manager. This installs LibreOffice, the replacement for OO.o.

Of what use be there for joy, if not for the sharing thereof?

In the menu, in the Office section, click on Libre Office Manager. Or in the Software Center section. This will install Libre Office. This will give you some info about it:

OpenOffice is no longer in our repos. It was removed in favor of Libre Office.

erk,
First of all, welcome to this forum.

Secondly, in synaptic,  do a search for Office. In there, you will find a file called lomanager. Install this and it will be your key to downloading libreoffice

start Synaptic, press Reload, then search for lomanager and double-click on it, then press Apply so it will be downloaded and installed. The current version is 3.3.1-5. If you do not get this version then read and follow this post and do the previous steps again.
Once lomanager 3.3.1-5 is installed, close Synaptic, and then run PCMenu -> Office -> LibreOffice Manager and follow the instructions.
good luck,
-p.

i did fully update before i started!

Then you should have Libre Office Manager in the menu in 3 places >> Software Center, Office and More Applications - Configuration. Hmm...... open a terminal (konsole in KDE) and enter
Code: [Select]
lomanager
See if it will launch with that, or if not, copy and paste terminal feedback here.

Did you do as pinoc said? Check in Synaptic for lomanager and install it.
