And there was some line, like keyboard=yes I changed to keyboard=no so I stopped getting the select-keyboard language nag screen on login.

Aaah, now this sidetracked me,  I have noticed that MyLiveCD copy insists on me answering the question about which keyboard to use.  Long ago I was hoping this would not be necessary when making a custom backup sqfs version of my running system.   ???

Ready yet?

 ;D

Thank you for the reminder ;D   .....  getting there .......  have to set up a PC for testing ......  because this could have undesireable consequences on my main install  ;D

I have some ideas to implement yet around the bootloader issues which must be tested.

.....  and I am lazy ....

You will both no doubt be pleased to know that the initial script has survived testing today.  :D

It is by no means ready for open testing, but it is getting there.
I have decided to take a simplified route and have re-done the whole thing ........  with the intention of adding to it as ideas are suggested, rather than try to make it do everything at the beginning.

If anyone would like to test it as it is developing please PM me.    :)

regards.

And don't give me the lame excuse that the new mylivecd/USB tools have distracted your attention.  :)

There appears to be little interest in this .......  maybe it would be best to drop it.

I am still very much interested but right now I am a bit snowed under and only just have a few minutes each day to spare.  I will hang in there and see if I can sneak some time on the coming Sunday. From memory my test using Alpha-3 worked fine but dropped out on the ext4.  All my test partitions were set for ext4, so I will have to redo one of those to ext3 (not a big job either).   :)

Thanks Wedgetail .......  it has worked so far here, but I need a few testers before putting any further time into it.

Interest in the scheme seems lacking ....  generally.
That is what I was trying to say above.

Sorry if my post seemed directed at you  :(

I would be grateful for any test results you can report.  ;)

regards.

I am working longer hours to help pay for the latest round of junkets and excess incurred by my overlords. The difficulty I have in regards to testing is the sporadic moments of time I have for doing this type of activity and also there's often too much setup/cleanup which eats in to already precious time.  :(

The best I could offer was to run your script (in it's current state) in a VM, but I figured you probably have done that and given the sandboxy nature of VM, I'd be unlikely to uncover any problem that you hadn't already.

There is a lot of Linux software 'on the move' right now and it might be that distraction that's keeping everyone busy. So I'm saying, if your project works for you no matter how you grade it, why not work toward getting it to run on one simple configuration (pref a vbox VM) and public release it with that caveat. Those who need specific changes can then ask for specific features.

Don't stop now, it's only been five weeks since you made the first announcement.  :)

Thanks VI .....  please do - when time allows - a test in a VM.
All individual reports are of value ......  even if they duplicate someone else's test.
If the results vary then there is something to investigate  ;)
