In the Computer Configuration in the settings you can choose for Netbook desktop in Workspace.

thanks.  does oit make sense to switch or is there not much of a performance increase by using the netbook desktop?  i read it should be faster.

I suggest just try it out. Works fine here. :D

I am curious what you think about it.

it looks good though but i stay with the desktop one.  the netbook version looks more made for touch screens.  and i dont recognize a performance increase.  one question:  is PCLinuxOS still available as KDE 3.5.10 ???

I have Samsung N220+ netbook. I tryed KDE netbook version and it is much much slower than the normal style. Netbook verso looks fine and cool, but I even have hard to test it..

I doubt with the netbook interface you could have a performance boost as it uses the same things.
Though, I never tested it, prefer the normal style.
IMHO the netbook interface serves only to make more room on the screen.

So.. How could I make my performance better so it runs perfectly?

Switch off the 3D-effects, Kwin or Compiz, the same for Nepomuk I think. That should increase a little bit the performance, now I dont have in mind what else.

afik the netbook version is a modification on placement of objects, not in other parts of the system

just to make things more simple whit smaller screens, nothing more from what i tested here, same on desktop and netbook(toshiba nb255 with aton 455, 1 gb of ram)

if you find the system slow change from oxygen to qt, also disable kde desktop effect and enable compiz fusion(install task-3d desktop)

in this way kde4 works just as fast as on my desktop pc(a old semprom 2600)
