VB+mylivecd

Hi to all,
I am running VB4.0.4 on PCLinuxOS2010.12.
VB is running PCLinuxOS2010.12.
The drives in VB are small --8GB for root and 3Gb for /home.
Since all that this system is doing is picking up email.
Nothing else. The idea is that I only need to move the .vdi file to another machine to get it working again, then once I am home again move it back to its original position.
Now with a total size of 11GB I am trying to mylivecd/image to the host drive with a lot of space on it 2-300GB. The host drive is mounted via NFS or SMB.
All this is fine. But when I run mylivecd I get errors that it cannot change usr/group permissions on the host machine.
Now I can write to the host, but I also cannot change permissions of a file.
But since mylivecd runs as root, I would expect it to be able to do all that was necessary.
Your thoughts on this problem will be greatfully received

Can't remember if SMB support changing permissions (it might be a config option)...for NFS, you may have no_root_squash set, which, IIRC, also blocks root permissions...

You may need to do a little Googling to confirm/clarify...I don't have the specifics in front of me, at the moment...
