Reduce noise
« on: March 10, 2011, 05:56:37 PM »
hello friends
I have a problem with my notebook asus
An operating system that does not want to write your name hahahaha .... xD  :D
The program serves to reduce noise from the processor or graphics card
Have multiple profiles for office, high performance, normal performance ect ...
I would love to find a program in my beloved pclinuxos, with those functions to my laptop, because the noise is annoying, always at full power.

I hope my question is well and I understand
Excuse my English

A greeting to all and thanks to all the community  ;)

"The program serves to reduce noise from the processor or graphics card"

the processor and video card both are microprocesors, none has moving parts or anything that could create noise

what makes noise is the fan over the heatsink cooling them

please post the model of the asus machine to know what video card and cpu has

also post what desktop environment you have, kde, gnome...

each one handles this different, more info is required, be specific, include kernel in use

it sounds like a old laptop, more than 2 years

have you cleaned it?

dust and many other stuff could be the reason for this fan spinning fast all the time

in kde4 there should be a icon near the clock on the taskbar with a shape of a battery, it offers the profiles and configurations you mention

in e17 it should be a similar solution

no idea in lxde, haven't used it in a long time but probably is the same

can you open konsole and write cpufreq -info

post the results
