libdri is part of the x11-server-common package. I did a search for libdri --
http://www.google.com/linux?hl=en&q=libdri&btnG=Search

I'm not sure if any of those results will help.

[root@mtz mtz]# rpm -q --whatprovides libdri.so
x11-server-common-1.6.5-2pclos2010

the output above shows libdri.so is part of "x11-server-common-1.6.5-2pclos2010"

try to (re)install the package and log out and back in and check the log file to see if you still get  the same error msg
.. 3 things are certain in life : death, taxes and software bloat ..
.. tell me something i don't know, something i can use as i struggle to reason with the world around me ..

The messages could now:
Code: [Select]
II) LoadModule: "dri"
(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions//libdri.so
(II) Module dri: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
compiled for 1.6.5, module version = 1.0.0
ABI class: X.Org Server Extension, version 2.0
(II) Loading extension XFree86-DRI

Looks better or?
But xbmc isn't start...
Thanks for helping...

If its any consolation - I'm having the same problem as you - running the kde desktop and installed xbmc from the repositories.  Would see it starting and then disappear.  Went to a terminal session and had the error could not find the smb.conf file - created as per earlier reply and am now at the same point - InitRenderSystem() glewInit returned 1: Missing GL version.  Did check the "dri" as was also suggested and it appears to be operating okay.  Oh and my video card is identified as an ATI (ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series).

I noticed that there were new ATI drivers that got installed as part of my Synaptic update last evening.  After rebooting the machine this morning, thought I would xbmc another try.  Have a new error message (See log below) saying unable to locate a libcrystalhd file.  Looked for the error over on the xbmc site and it seems to indicate a driver problem.

the last time i got this error i resolved it by installing the driver package directly from nvidia instead of the one in the repos.  that seemed to do the trick for me.

If you have nvidia or fglrx drivers installed then try

[root@localhost ~]# mv /usr/lib/libGL.so* /opt
[root@localhost ~]# ldconfig

Thanks to everyone who donates. You keep the servers running.

High thanks for the tip. This works for me as well on my daughters laptop so she can stream her ripped blurays on our nas, however has to be redone on each reboot or her laptop. Any more permanent solution. Thanks.

Somewhat unrelated but XBMC only works well for me when started from KDM.  Launching it during the KDE session results in an unuseable state of lag (likely my hardware).
