[SOLVED]How do I run an adobe AIR app in Linux?
« on: March 10, 2011, 07:07:07 AM »
Ok I downloaded an adobe AIR app suposidly self contained and cross platform but dont know what I need to actually run the flash app as an app?

I downladed the .AIR file

and was able to extract it and that folder has a .swf so guessing that is what I need to run but have no clue how?

Any one know?

.....

Ok I found Adobe AIR in the repo and installed it but still can not launch this thing? I though mabye I was supposed to run the .air but it still thinks it is a compressed file so apparently I need a bit of help to get this working hopefully some one knows what I am doing wrong?

I think I need to DL AIR fom Adobe directly but do I want the .rpm or the .bin?

Use Synaptic and search. There is adobeair (only described as Adobe Air 2) on the repository. Have you tried that? However, I wouldn't know if that works because I never tried it and probably won't.

I found that but I dont think it associated the file types with it. I tried right click to see if it is in the list but no go. And not finding AIR as an app to associate it manually?

I fired up a PCLinuxOS MiniMe 2010.12 on VirtualBox and installed adobeair from Synaptic. Downloaded a free (ugly Accuweather) applet/widget from the Marketplace, installed it and it works.

What app/widget were you trying to get to work? I could test it for you.

It looks like a reboot fixed it

so I am going to mark this as solved. My guess would be because my systems was at about 100% when I installed AIR it was just lagging
