The 2.6.37.3 BFS kernel in testing fails to start KDE correctly. Both KDE and KDM start, but the screen is black apart from the mouse cursor, which appears normal and can be moved. It is possible to log in at KDM, using tab to reach the password field, and the start-up sound can be heard after a delay to allow the desktop to start.

I have posted Xorg.0.log at http://www.instabook.com/pclos/Xorg.0.log-2.6.37.3-intel_D945GCLF2

The recurring error '(EE) intel(0): failed to set mode: Invalid argument(II) intel(0): EDID vendor "FUS", prod id 1979' suggests a driver problem to me. Google has nothing on this error message.

kjpetrie:

Items from the testing section should not be discussed in the forum. This is a matter for the testers mailing list.
