Resolved. Remastered DVD quit working.

Twice before now I have used a remastered DVD I made on 1-31-2011 to reinstall PCLos.  Today, after losing my printer function (apparently caused by an update), I tried to use the DVD to reinstall PCLos.  It goes thru the install process but then hangs up when it attempts to install GRUB.  I have tried 4 times without success.

Does anyone know of a possible fix for getting the DVD to install grub?  If not, is there a way to add grub manually during the install process?

Did you give it much time to install?  I have noticed that at times Grub seems to take an inordinate amount of time to install when installing the OS.

Yes it is simple to install Grub separately.

There are lots of posts explaining how on this forum.

Essentially you launch grub in a terminal, use the grub 'find' command to locate the grub files on the partition, the use that disk/partition information in the two commands needed to do the installation ........  the grub 'root' command and the grub 'setup' command.

If the menu.lst or other files are not on the root partition of the new install they will need to be added.

Just19, you just solved my problem.  I tried installing again, and gave grub install maybe 10 to 12 minutes; and, as if by voodoo magic, it decided to finish installing.  On the two previous occasions I had reinstalled, grub installed itself almost instantly.
